A wonderful fairy tale by the Danish poet H.C. Andersen lavishly illustrated in bright water colors by Sussi Bech. The son of a rich merchant has squandered all his inheritance and his friend gives him a trunk and suggests him to pack his things. The trunk turns out to be magical and takes the merchant’s son all the way to the land of the Turks, where he meets with the princess.
Sussi Bech
A 1983 graduate from the School of Applied Arts in Copenhagen, Sussi Bech is an award-winning cartoonist living in Denmark. She has illustrated nearly 200 books for children. Her most popular graphic novel is Nofret – 13 volumes so far – which stars a young Egyptian girl in the land of the pharaohs and combines her adventures with historically accurate depictions of ancient Egypt. Sussi Bech has won several awards for her work.
